Definitions of Lifestyle Terms We Use

The challenge with lifestyle as it is popularly known is its vagueness of concept, thus the challenge with lifestyle is in defining exactly what a lifestyle means.

It is said, ‘lifestyle is the way in which a person or group lives.’ Unfortunately, via this definition, every living person and active group inherently leads a lifestyle. If such is true, there is no need for the term lifestyle, as the term “life” suffices where a focus on the actions of a person or group exists. In a way, the term “lifestyle” is complication by simplification: if it is not possible to predict a person’s behavior by observing his or her life, it certainly is not possible to predict a person’s behavior by observing his or her “lifestyle” without first clarifying precisely within what parameters a “lifestyle” is set.
